Grout is made of porous cement, which means it will soak up oils, soil, grime and other household dirt. Mold and mildew also grows into grout that is continously exposed to the wet, humid environments of bathrooms and kitchens. Microscopic pores in the grout allow dirt, bacteria and other contaminants to become trapped below the surface, which not only looks unsightly, but also can adversely affect your family or building occupants' health. Mopping only grinds the dirt into the grout lines. The steam cleaners that are sold on TV and in some stores work well to remove the surface dirt from tiling and grout, which is why they are great for maintenance between cleanings. Floor manufacturers recommend that you have your tile and grout cleaned once every 12 to 18 months in order to effectively clean the stubborn dirt that lies deep in the pores of your grout lines. If you have a lot of foot traffic and/or pets, you may need to have your tile cleaned more frequently.

The Global Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning uses a specially formulated cleaner to pre-treat your grout and tile to help lift the ground-in soil and agitates the floor to further loosen it. We then clean the floor using steam extraction, which involves the use of extremely hot water, detergents, high pressure and vacuum extraction. Our truck mounted cleaning process power washes the floor to extract soil and grease from the pores of the tile and grout or other hard surface floors. The system generates water pressure of 1,000 to 1,200 P.S.I. and water temperature of approximately 240°F to soften and extract years of soil and contaminants. The vacuum hose draws away the water and dirt, to a containment tank on our truck. We then dispose of the wastes in accordance with EPA regulations.

Our process restores your tile and grout to 85 to 90 percent of its original appearance and most stains are removed. But, some stains like red wine, mustard and dyes will not come out because they permanently dye the grout. If your grout line is discolored, we can recolor your grout with a pigmented penetrative seal. Proper application of a quality color sealer can give grout lines a fresh new look, so you don't have to re-grout.

After we clean your tile and grout we also apply a grout sealant to help protect your grout from dirt and stains. Remember, grout is porous, so it will absorb soil and spills, just like carpet. Having a sealant applied will help create a protective barrier, which will give you more time to clean up dry and liquid dirt before it soaks into the grout. Similar to how our DuPont Teflon® Carpet Protector forms a protective barrier over your carpet and upholstery fabric fibers, our clear and colored sealers keep dirt and stains from soaking into the porous grout, giving you more time to clean the spills. Protective sealers will help extend the life of your grout and prevent it from being permanently discolored. After your floor is cleaned and the seal is applied, The Global Carpet recoommends that you wait for 30 minutes before walking on the floor. This will allow enough time for the sealant to dry. It takes 24 hours for the sealant to cure completely, so please make sure no liquids come in contact with the sealant during that time.
